He angitūtanga | About the role
Reporting to the Team Lead Business Analysis and working closely with a specific project team, you will collaborate with key business stakeholders to deliver significant change. You will play a key role in shaping the future of DOC by driving the transformation of our processes and capabilities in flagship initiatives. These priority initiatives include:
- Regulatory Services Technology Modernisation Programme (and associated projects).
- Shared services delivery programme to streamline processes and enable more time for nature for our kaimahi.
Leveraging your strong innovation, analytical, and lean skills, you will excel at identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, spotting trends and gaps, and advising key decision-makers on optimising business solutions.

We are after problem solvers and innovators. You will have a curious mindset, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills. You should be adept at engaging with a wide variety of people, from field rangers to senior leaders. You'll need to stay informed about DOC's iconic role in New Zealand and our collaborative efforts with the Treaty Partners. You should be passionate about understanding key processes to boost efficiency and effectiveness, driving organisational change.
Required skills and experience:
- Strong delivery focus.
- Lean experience – proficient in eliminating waste, performing just-in-time analysis, and mapping key value streams.
- A knack for continuous process improvement.
- Process standardisation skills.
- Can straddle both technical and business requirements
- Minimum 3 years of business analysis experience in a complex environment,
- Clear understanding of good business analysis practice and a commitment to “walking the talk”.
- You will be well organized and structured, with a coherent and consistent approach to personal work management.
- Curious and innovative with a willingness to “right size” your approach to suit a variety of business working styles.
- Experience working with a variety of delivery approaches (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.)
- Experience through the whole project and systems delivery lifecycle, including discovery.
Additional desirable skills:
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience with using a financial system such as SAP.
- Knowledge of common process modelling.
