About the position
As part of our ongoing growth and digital transformation, we are seeking a Business Analyst to join our team. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring the successful delivery of projects that support our company’s digital transformation. Your role will involve identifying opportunities for process improvement, developing functional solutions, and working with stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes.
Summary of key information
- Nature of employment: Permanent full-time
- Remuneration: $46 to $51 per hour
- Overtime rate: at the rate of normal salary for any time worked in addition to an ordinary work week
- Minimum guaranteed hours of work: 30 hours per week
- Maximum hours of work: fixed 30 hours per week
- Location of work: 2 Bell Street, Tawa, Wellington 5028, and various client sites within Wellington.
Summary of key responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Collaborate with users and key stakeholders to identify, investigate, and document business requirements.
- Analyse existing business processes, procedures, and work practices to pinpoint inefficiencies.
- Recommend optimised business practices and system functionalities to improve overall performance.
- Develop functional specifications for use ensuring clear and actionable guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, refine and optimise digital platforms, such as project tracking and reporting systems for monitoring construction progress; client portal for real-time updates, invoicing, and feedback; workforce and payroll management systems;supplier and contractor coordination tools for streamlined communication; general file management systems; digital marketing solutions;health and safety management solutions etc.
- Lead website development and maintenance projects, ensuring secure, functional, and user-friendly designs tailored to the company’s brand.
- Utilise project management methodologies to develop detailed project plans, including cost, resource allocation, and timelines.
- Manage the end-to-end implementation of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
- Oversee the deployment of functional solutions, including the creation and execution of system test plans to guarantee quality and integrity.
- Use data and process modelling techniques to create comprehensive system specifications for the design and development of software solutions.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented systems, proposing enhancements where needed.
- Act as a central reference and information source, providing guidance in system project decision-making processes.
- Prepare user manuals, training materials, and documentation to support system adoption and functionality.
- Conduct formal training sessions for users to ensure smooth transitions and optimal use of new systems.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Key requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- At least one year of relevant work experience, such as Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Product Manager.
- Expertise in WordPress, including troubleshooting, optimisation, and custom child theme development, with experience using WordPress for scalable web applications and integrated business solutions.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., SilverStripe, Drupal) and front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular).
- Practical experience with finance, HR, recruitment, payroll, and collaboration tools (e.g., Workday, Netsuite, Lever preferred).
- Proven ability to apply project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
- Proficiency in data and process modeling techniques (e.g., UML, flowcharts, ER diagrams).
- Strong knowledge of web server maintenance, including DNS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to advocate for customers and collaborate across all organisational levels.
