About the role
The Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development is looking for a Business Analyst to join their Finance Team until 30 June 2025. If you are passionate about transforming data into real and actionable insights, this could be the role for you.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Data Extraction & Transformation – you will extract data from diverse sources—including internal systems, APIs, and spreadsheets—and transform it into usable formats for analysis and reporting to be utilised by all areas the Department. You will need to have a keen eye for detail to ensure that all data is accurate, validated, and ready for strategic decision-making.
- Data Validation & Quality Control – you will conduct thorough data validation to ensure high-quality, reliable datasets and ensure any inconsistencies, errors, or gaps in data are resolved.
- Data Visualisation & Reporting – you will design and develop interactive dashboards and visual reports that clearly present key insights from our data using tools like Power BI, to craft compelling visuals that make complex data easy to understand, empowering decision-makers to act quickly and confidently.
Bring your expertise to the table and drive meaningful, data-driven decisions across the Department.
About you
The ideal candidate will have expertise in data extraction and manipulation, along with experience using data visualisation tools. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities are essential. Effective communication skills are also crucial, as you'll be translating complex data insights for both technical and non-technical teams.
