Senior Business Analyst, Wellington
- Permanent role
- Based in Wellington at Wellington Regional Office
- Would suit a Senior Business Advisor with relevant data experience
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst (Advisor) to join our dedicated team, working towards improving the lives of New Zealanders.
This is not strictly an IT role. Importantly we are looking for experience interpreting data to influence operational decisions.
We would like to hear from you if you are a Senior Business Advisor who has relevant experience working with data and telling a story.
About the role
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a key role in influencing the activities across all our Service Delivery areas (Work and Income, Senior Services, Studylink).
You will:
- Initiate and lead new regional support initiatives in the region
- Provide valuable insights and produce data-informed outputs and recommendations
- Extract and analyse internal business data and related external intelligence, to inform the business for continuous improvement, communicating findings to the appropriate regional audience
- Monitor performance to identify business issues and opportunities to management.
You will be responsible, alongside others, for developing and communicating effective strategies to improve regional performance that enables our MSD regions to achieve or exceed key performance indicators. This includes providing regular and customised reporting, insights and recommendations to the regional leadership.
You may lead the development and implementation of new business initiatives and innovation within the region and will ensure these initiatives are linked to national strategies.
In essence, you will be a data story-teller with excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to explain not only what is happening, but the why, and the what next.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring exceptional research and analysis skills, coupled with a demonstrated ability to communicate your findings in ways that are meaningful for your audience.
You will have strong business acumen, reporting and monitoring skills as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders – your great people skills will match your solid data skills.
You will naturally be highly proficient in spread sheets, macros, statistical and database tools. Experience using SAS analytical software (especially Visual Analytics) and data visualisation software would be an advantage.
