As a Senior Business Analyst and lead the analysis activity on a portfolio of projects or a large, high profile programme.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders to define business priorities for your portfolio or programme and ensure a throughline to UCL’s strategic objectives and plan. You will also manage relationships with users and service owners and be able to represent their needs and challenges, whilst balancing the priorities of the wider community.
Your responsibilities will include the following;
- Business Architecture: Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the business architecture for your business area, ensuring all analysis aligns with the overall structure and objectives.
- Shaping analysis: Take the lead in defining the scope and approach for analysis activities, ensuring they are designed to meet the specific needs of each project and contribute to UCL’s strategic direction.
- Discovery: Explore how services or processes currently work looking at strategic goals, performance, operations design, organisation structure and use of technologies.
- Business cases: Recommend options with outlined costs and clear benefits.
- Requirements: Elicit, document, and manage business requirements at a level appropriate to the need.
- Visualisation: Illustrate the current and future state operating models, process models and scenarios (user stories, user cases) in a style appropriate to the target audience.
- Best practice: Support the development of best practice ideas and promote our business analysis services by understanding the .
- Line Management: Lead, mentor, and manage business analysts, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and high performance.
- Resource Management: Oversee the activities of your business analyst resources, coordinating efforts across different projects and ensuring consistent quality and alignment with strategic objectives.

As an experienced Senior Business Analyst, you have previously taken leading roles on a range of projects delivering both IT enabled and non-technical change, and are experienced of working within agile and traditional programme structures. You will be skilled in shaping and delivering analysis to large, complex, high-profile programmes tailored to meet their outcomes and ensure successful benefits realisation. You consistently demonstrate the ability to effectively manage your time, your team and your stakeholders' expectations across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring objectives are met within the given timelines and critical milestones.
With your excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, you have formed successful relationships with senior stakeholders, understood and represented their needs yet been confident to challenge their thinking and skilled in influencing and negotiating compromises.
You can clearly define and articulate business cases, business architecture and operating model concepts to end users and colleagues across the business and process excellent presentation skills. As a confident leader, you have line managed business analysts, developing them to their full potential and prioritised your resources across the projects or workstreams in your remit.
As part of a portfolio or programme team you work effectively in a collaborative leadership team environment providing evidence and experience-based advice. Your drive for continuous improvement means you actively seek out opportunities to enhance of the business analysis service and best practice.
