Te Tari Taake 'Inland Revenue' (IR) plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa 'New Zealand'. We do this by collecting and distributing money - we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.

Mō te roopu - About the team
Enterprise Services is our corporate services group accountable for IR's finance, technology, people, workplace, commercial, marketing/communications and knowledge management functions.
The Enterprise Services Planning, Design and Delivery team offers three key services:
- Initiative planning and delivery for projects being delivered by Enterprise Services
- Release management for our enterprise support service (primarily Cloud based Evergreen platforms) - Ātea (Oracle) and SAP/Miri, and
- Change management for local and enterprise initiatives being delivered by Enterprise Services
Mō te tūnga - About the role
This new Principal Business Analyst role (Domain Principal) is part of our strategy to grow capability in planning and executing initiatives and our focus on process improvement. The role will involve working closely with customers to identify, plan, design, develop and implement improvements to Enterprise Services business processes and systems.
As a Principal Business Analyst, you'll shape the business analysis and business improvement practice in ES-PDD, providing technical leadership for Enterprise Services core systems, working with product owners and stakeholders to manage projects and mentor peers and customers.
You will work across a spectrum from facilitating identification of business requirements, process improvement, business case development, benefits identification and realisation and test design/execution. As part of our implementation and improvement areas of focus, you'll be involved in clearing backlogs, prioritisation and pursuing automation. You'll also grow our overall capability by coaching Enterprise Services teams in how to prioritise and undertake these activities, i.e. coaching others in elements of your craft rather than doing everything yourself.

You will:
- Have an ability to work with a high level of organisational and technical awareness to be the conduit between the business, delivery teams, and our customers in order to elicit, analyse, communicate, and validate current state or requirements
- Have a thorough understanding of industry and external technology trends and be able to apply this to an IR context
- Have experience in exploring and recommending technology solution options and approaches including presenting plans, roadmaps or business cases with estimating costings, work effort and benefits, and identifying assumptions and constraints, for stakeholders
- Be able to demonstrate how you have applied your industry knowledge, specifically related to the areas Enterprise Services supports e.g. financial services, ERP, HRIS, payroll and accounting software etc., to propose and design solutions that benefit the broader ecosystem
- Have repeatedly improved business processes and user experience through championing continuous improvement, data analytics and process re-engineering including automation
- Have excellent knowledge of the use of following tools: Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Visio, SharePoint, Power BI); Atlassian Jira. Additionally, knowledge of the ARIS tool and use of API's is desirable
- Have strong relationship and communication skills with experience in influencing senior stakeholders
