This position is for a developing Business Analyst who is excited for a challenge and who will work in a fast paced environment as they develop their professional skillsets. The Associate Business Analyst assists in the planning and design of business processes, focuses on requirements gathering and process mapping. The individual will be responsible for working closely with the agile team, Senior Business Analyst and Product owner to define and document acceptance criteria. They are an active team member who participates in the estimation of work required to deliver software features. They will use their technical and domain skills to ensure the solutions delivered are of high quality by collaborating with their agile team and by using appropriate elicitation/documentation practices.
The Role
- Collaborates with agile team to define business requirements and user stories relating to features to be delivered from a technical perspective.
- Gather requirements for persona of specific user experiences.
- Ensure functional and non-functional requirement’s, with appropriate documentation are represented effectively in the product backlog.
- Collaborates with User Experience (UX) designers to ensure designs produced can be translated efficiently into working solutions for feature delivery.
- Completes process mapping and performs Story Decomposition to enable planning at the appropriate level.
- Review the acceptance criteria with the Team (Software Engineers and Test Engineers) to ensure agreement on testability so the team can drive toward getting the right tests automated to support continuous integration.
- Collaborates with the Senior Business Analyst, Product owner and relevant subject matter experts to define concise and effective user stories with precise and accurate acceptance criteria for a user story.
- Ensure that product backlog work items e.g. user stories are meeting the definition of ready/done in line with enterprise targets on backlog readiness.
- Ensure backlog work item decomposition is meeting enterprise standards with respect of quality of content and data integrity on key fields to drive transparency and effective reporting.
- Identify data sources and gather and analyze data relevant to processes impacted by the solutions being created.
What you offer
- Bachelors of Computer Science preferred, or equivalent relevant business experience.
- Graduate level
- Has minimum 1 year’s experience working as part of an agile team.
- Has minimum 1 year’s process mapping experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote).
- Knowledge of Agile Business Analyst tools, such as Visio, Jira, Confluence, Figma.
- Possesses a basic understanding of data.
- Passionate about the business direction, priorities, results, and customer experience.
- Takes a logical, analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Agile Development Methodologies.
- Self-motivated and results oriented.
- Ability to effectively summarize and clearly communicate problems involving multiple support team (s).
- Has a basic understanding of information security and risk management principles.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and divide time between multiple projects.
- Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.
- Ability to support resolution of complex technical problems.
- Ability and drive to learn.
- IIBA certifications are a plus.
