About the Role:
Spark Cyber Defence Operations Center is looking for a Junior/Tier 1 Security Analyst to join our established and expanding team, to help defend Spark and Spark's Managed Security Services customers. You will be based in our Auckland office, dealing with a variety of cyber security attacks on a daily basis such as DDoS, phishing, malware and other advanced cyber-attacks.
This role would suit a technical person who has a real passion to develop skills and knowledge in the network security arena (someone who is not afraid to take on a challenge!). Relevant work experience is preferred but not essential as focus is on the right attitude and drive to excel. The ideal candidate needs to be a career-driven, smart, sharp, trustworthy and determined individual for this challenging but rewarding position.
Essential requirements for this role include:
- Be able to continually pass the security vetting process and holds a valid work visa.
- Highly motivated and eager to learn, with a 'can do' attitude.
- Excellent team-working and time-management skills.
- Able to work a flexible shift pattern including night shifts (CDOC is a 24x7 operation).
- Be fluent and well-spoken in English (analysts regularly engage in calls and emails with clients).
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science (specialized in Information Security would be ideal) or relevant industry experience.
- Passionate about security and be able to demonstrate how you maintain an understanding of current security trends and topics.
Along with the essential requirements, any of the following technical skills are favoured:
- Good understanding of Networking (TCP/IP) and network security concepts.
- Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Scripting - Python, Powershell, Bash, etc.
- Knowledge of various open source security tools.
