Finance Business Systems Analyst – 12 Month Term

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Finance Business Systems Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the continuous improvement of Finance processes and implementing solutions to maximize departmental efficiencies. This role supports operational activities and projects/enhancements, as part of aligning Finance and Tax with all business units across NFI Group.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Support and lead multiple, complex projects, including defining and managing scope, supporting analysis, working to timelines, ensuring development and testing is executed, and delivering minimum viable products/solutions.
- Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders across the organization; driving to resolve issues; holding self and team accountable for results.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of business processes and the computer application functionality that ensures processes are cost-effective and efficient.
- Organize and facilitate meetings and interviews with business users and subject-matter experts (SME) to gather information for the identification and definition of their business processes and for the identification of scope and impact of their business process issues.
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities in the business through reviews and assessments of current business processes and systems.
- Prepare conceptual designs of proposed technical solutions and act as the liaison between the business and ITS in transforming system design concepts to a detailed system design.
- Lead acceptance testing of new business systems and system enhancements to ensure system functions in accordance with detailed specifications.
- Assist in business process conversions and implementation plans for local and remote sites.
- Resolve business system issues to ensure the needs of Finance and Tax are met.
- Implement changes to business system processes that improve efficiency and/or quality of Finance and Tax.
- Consolidate Finance processes to best practice for all locations when possible.
- Work collaboratively with the functional areas to support system enhancements with Finance Leadership.
- Develop and apply team’s Standard Operating Procedures (templates, metrics, etc.).
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting.
- 3-5 years' experience in enterprise or accounting business systems.
- System configuration and/or development experience is preferred.
- Knowledge business process redesign or re-engineering is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Excellent communication, critical thinking skills and ability to be successful in a collaborative team environment.
- CPA designation would be considered an asset.
- Project management and/or business analysis training would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of agile and waterfall application delivery methodologies would be considered an asset.
Up to 5% of travel is required in this position.
