The Role
We are looking for an insightful and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will analyse business data from multiple sources to provide evidence based recommendations to support strategic decision making. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the department to gather information, evaluate current status and translate insights into actionable solutions. Your ability to interpret data and present findings clearly will be key to enhancing our operational efficiency, optimizing resources allocation and driving growth. You will also lead developing reports and tools to monitor performance metrics and ensure we stay on track with our business objectives and key deliverables.

Defence Learning Branch enables the development and delivery of corporate training and learning and development to support the Defence Mission. Through a collaborative approach, we adopt innovative, contemporary learning solutions, technologies, principles, and approaches to optimise the learner experience. We invest in the growth and development of our most important asset, our people. The Defence Education Assistance and Programs team sits in the Defence Learning Branch and supports Defence personnel to gain professional qualifications that contribute to Defence capability. Our work ensures the Defence workforce is ready to meet current and future challenges. We enable learning through a range of education assistance schemes and academic programs. Our focus is to be agile and innovative in delivering a positive customer experience that supports professional growth and quality education schemes and academic programs that support Defence’s mission.
Our Ideal Candidate
You are an analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for data. You have experience working with various data sets and can quickly identify trends, insights and opportunities for improvement.
To be successful you will:
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to develop and maintain reporting frameworks to present data in accessible and actionable formats for senior leaders and stakeholders
- Conduct in depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform decision making, strategic planning and benefit realisation
- Use data to provide strategic intelligence to forecast future trends, identify risks and recommend proactive measures to ensure schemes success
- Provide comprehensive support and knowledge for data management and strategic analysis across multiple schemes
- Prepare comprehensive regular and adhoc reports and presentations that communicate key findings and recommendations to senior leaders and other stakeholders
- Have experience with data analysis tools and business intelligence platforms
- Thrive working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
