Collinson Insurance
We are a niche, personal lines insurer generating £300m+ GWP operating as two insurance companies in the UK and Malta. Our major product lines are travel insurance, private medical & dental insurance, and specialist insurance products including gadget, warranties, events, and home and motor ancillary products. With long standing agreements and strong relationships with affinity clients such as the Post Office, EasyJet and Saga in the UK and Vhi in Ireland, we also operate a direct-to-consumer brand, Columbus Direct which operates as a travel insurer in the UK and Italy.
Collinson Insurance drives primarily short tail, higher utilisation, niche insurance products and provides deep expertise for in-house claims and assistance servicing for travel and health products and works with strategic 3rd parties for its claims and assistance activities covering all other specialty insurance products.
Purpose of the job A Technical Business Analyst works directly within the team(s) to: design, build, deploy, service and deliver our Customers’ business needs. Technical Business Analysts perform a range of activities that span traditional business and systems analysis; defining scope and requirements, isolating key issues, reviewing possible solutions and presenting recommendations. Technical Business Analysts are active advisors to both our Customers and our Development Team(s). As such, duties can also incorporate: product management, system implementation, data analytics, and Customer management.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the strategic technical approach to meet the needs of Collinson’s Insurance division.
- Support strategies and roadmaps for business systems within Insurance division to deliver sustainable long term benefits as defined by Product Owners
- Collaborate with internal and external Customers across several functional areas, to understand key functional needs/requirements and translate these into creation of new product features and enhancements to existing product features
- Conducting business process analysis and mapping business processes specifications
- Manage roll-out of new product features to Customers and communicate updates with stakeholders
- Work with Development, QA and Production Support teams to communicate, verify, and support testing the desired functionality changes
- Ensure data quality in customer deliverables via rigorous quality review prior to release
- Play a role in new customer implementations
- Identify novel opportunities using data to solve Customer business challenges
- Collaborate with Development Team(s) to design and implement new features
- Work with the stakeholders to ensure all requirements gathering and analysis tasks are accurately planned within the overall agreed timeframes
- Contribute to regular Team meetings to ensure the correct tasks are being worked on and share key decisions required, risks identified and highlight and issues encountered
- Support and train team members on existing and new processes
- Provide cover for team members as required
Knowledge, skills and experience required
- Deep expertise with general insurance, or equivalent experience with a good understanding of a regulated industry e.g. financial services,
- Experience with customer facing platforms, claims handling and data management solutions.
- Experience in delivering user stories and acceptance criteria in an Agile framework
- Customer centric experience, covering customer and user experience, customer journey mapping and design thinking
- Experience in transforming processes, ways of working and continuous improvement
- Collaborative stakeholder skills to proactively engage and bring together process, functional and commercial owners
- Experience working with a variety of delivery models including Scrum, Kanban, waterfall etc
- Day to day experience working with engineering development and support teams to determine solutions
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with technology services groups and other management teams including on a global, virtual basis
- Comfortable working on their own initiative to support the whole team in achieving success.
