The role
Under the strategic direction of the Impact Evidence and Evaluation Manager, you will be responsible for working with a variety of stakeholders across the Centre to collect, analyse and report on the impact of the centre’s activities such as projects in line with the strategic objectives of the Centre and its wider ecosystem.
You will deliver analysis and data activities that directly support the strategic objectives of the Hartree Centre and will be directly involved as active project members within our exciting digital innovation programmes, including programmes such as the Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation and Hartree Centre SME Hubs to BridgeAI and the Smart Manufacturing Data Hub. You will be embedded within the project teams to understand the outputs and plot a trajectory to impact, delivering materials and activities to a high standard that enhance our external reputation and strengthen business and public sector relationships for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver impact reports that ensure that the strategic goals of the Hartree Centre are demonstrated.
- Collaborate with external evaluators, the technical project teams, project management office, and impact and communications and stakeholder engagement teams to develop a shared understanding of impact within the R&D landscape.
- Work as part of a team to deliver impact and evidence monitoring and data analysis activities that achieve the strategic goals of the Hartree Centre’s digital innovation programmes in line with HM Treasury guidance.
- Produce and develop impact stories and assist in generating content for impact publications, project managing their delivery using internal and external resources.
- Develop innovative policy analysis tools and techniques to enhance the brand reputation and attract investment to the Hartree Centre.
- Broaden skills base in policy analysis for the professional services of the Centre.
- Provide the data and relevant proofreading or editorial feedback for external evaluation companies to ensure high quality standards are met.
- Have shared responsibility for the Hartree Centre’s contribution to STFC and UKRI impact and evaluation activities.
Person Specification:
- Outstanding data handling skills including excellent attention to detail regarding qualitative, quantitative, and other methodologies.
- A creative approach to interpreting complex scientific or technical concepts, research and technology subject matter for business, Government and lay audiences to translate technical outputs into meaningful impact for the public.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills – able to manage own workload and meet deadlines autonomously.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders from different professional backgrounds within policy, industry and academia.
- Confident giving presentations and actively contribute to meetings and events – internal and external.
- An undergraduate degree or relevant experience in a Social Science or STEM (science, technology, engineering or maths) subject and proven experience developing methodologies for collecting and analysing complex and multifaceted data.
