The Business Analyst will be critical in enhancing Cyber Security operations at Deakin by investigating operational requirements, identifying problems, and uncovering opportunities for improvement. A genuine enthusiasm for Cyber Security and a keen interest in its evolving landscape will be essential for success in this role, which focuses on refining practices, streamlining processes, and finding efficiencies specifically within the Cyber Security team. The analyst will collaborate closely with stakeholders to analyse their objectives, address underlying issues, and explore solutions that leverage both automated and non-automated process enhancements.
In addition, the Business Analyst will investigate operational requirements and problems, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in both automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes. The position involves analysing stakeholder objectives, addressing underlying issues from business requirements and problems, and identifying viable options for consideration. The analyst will work with stakeholders to define acceptance tests and contribute to the selection of appropriate business analysis methods, tools, and techniques, choosing between predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches as needed.
As a Business Analyst, you will:
- Act as a coach and work with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback
- Identify and lead business analysis techniques to identify business needs and change opportunities, gather, document and analyse requirements and implement solutions, evaluate effectiveness and adjust actions as required
- Consult a diverse range of stakeholders to clarify who requires information, the purpose for which it is required, criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendations are required
- Deliver effective and efficient communications, using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding, support and adoption
- Engage in process improvement activities and adopt new ideas to embed and increase adoption of change
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A Degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Experience working within a large scale and complex organisation
- Experience as a business analyst working in an IT development environment
- Experience gathering, documenting and managing user requirements
- Knowledge of systems, process and business improvement capabilities
- Experience designing effective solutions to complex business and technical problems
