POSITION SUMMARY
You will be responsible for leading strategic make/buy analysis and driving key decisions in collaboration with the Fabco Operations, North American Bus and Coach Sourcing and Process Planning teams. The goal of this position is to optimize shop capabilities and capacity while mitigating the risk of supply disruptions to the bus plants due to overloaded work centres or parts planned beyond Fabco’s manufacturing capacity.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to form strategic decisions on whether to make or buy specific components
- Evaluate in-house manufacturing capacity and constraints while considering existing equipment capabilities to align production with demand forecasts
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to create and update routing manual and shop capabilities, factoring shop capacity to ensure shops are not overloaded
- Collaborate with strategic sourcing to develop long-term level loading and outsourcing strategies, identifying and securing vendor partnerships
- Create and oversee fabrication technology and equipment replacement processes, ensuring the shops stay up-to-date, competitive, and forward-thinking
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and strategic change projects
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Professional Engineering degree, related courses and experience to be considered
- Lean certification considered an asset
- Experience with Make vs. Buy Analysis
- Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to think critically and problem solve
This position requires more than 10% travel.
