The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for overseeing and guiding complex projects from proposal through post-implementation. This role includes facilitating meetings with business units to capture and evaluate user requirements for application functionality, ensuring feedback aligns with user needs. The Senior Analyst serves as the project lead, ensuring that test plans and specifications are developed on time, and the project meets key milestones. Within 18 months, this role is expected to be the subject matter expert for the assigned systems, providing deep technical and functional insight into enterprise-wide initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed functional specifications, test plans, test cases, and execute test cases for assigned projects.
- Conduct research and analysis to ensure the functional design of projects is accurate and comprehensive.
- Mentor less experienced staff on application training, research analysis, and project methodology.
- Serve as functional lead for complex projects, managing project schedules and facilitating team meetings.
- Meet with business clients to gather and clarify application change requests related to business initiatives, compliance, or system maintenance.
- Document business requirements and deliver corresponding functional specifications.
- Coordinate large project estimates and timelines, ensuring projects remain on schedule.
- Advise on how applications may be impacted by enterprise-wide initiatives, acquisitions, or major service/product changes.
- Collaborate with vendors and technical teams to ensure project functionality is understood and implemented effectively.
- Act as Test Coordinator for large projects involving multiple systems and applications.
- Participate in data mapping for system integration, conversion, and acquisition-related projects.
- Develop and manage test plans and scripts based on functional specifications, overseeing testing and ensuring accurate outcomes.
- Monitor and manage project scope, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Corporate Technology standards.
- Address change requests and ensure timely resolution of issues during testing and implementation.
- Coordinate post-implementation activities, including feedback, issue resolution, and project debriefs.
- Adhere to risk and regulatory standards, escalating issues as necessary.
- Promote diversity and align with the bank\'s corporate culture and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of combined higher education and/or operational/business analytics experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in personal computers and relevant software packages.
- Ability to resolve issues effectively and ensure timely project completion.
- Bachelor\'s degree is preferred.
- Subject matter expert in business or experience with the supported application/system is preferred.
- Experience managing complex projects is preferred.
- Advanced understanding of supported applications and integration/interfacing systems is preferred.
- Proficiency with project management, word processing, and spreadsheet tools is preferred.
- Deep understanding of the Bank\'s application framework is preferred.
- Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms is preferred.
- Knowledge of business terminologies and operational processes is preferred.
- Experience presenting to all levels of management is preferred.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple complex project components is preferred.
- Strong teamwork and autonomy skills are preferred.
- Understanding of project milestones and delivery dates is preferred.
- Ability to recommend and implement solutions proactively is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Bank acquisition methodology or relevant conversion experience is preferred.
