POSITION SUMMARY:
The responsibilities of the credit analyst include analyzing credit data and financial information of persons or companies that are applying for credit or loans to determine the risk associated with any particular credit request or borrower. Credit analysts will prepare reports based upon their findings to help make decisions on lending and creditworthiness.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, including new requests, changed requests, refinancing, and annual due diligence
- Preparing reports to relay the risk level of a relationship or specific loan request. Credit analysts will prepare reports based upon their findings, and present to the Loan Officer (LO) to decision loan requests, based on the analysis and creditworthiness, by recommending a Risk Rating.
- Provide recommendations tied to analysis and assessment of credit risk
- Keep up to date with the company’s lending protocols
- Reconcile credit files and identify discrepancies and variances
- Develop and prepare spreadsheets and models to support analysis of new and existing credit applications
- Create, review, and make recommendations based on the tracking of financial files, to ensure annual updates, or for specific credit requests, are performed per policy.
- Conferring with credit associations and references to exchange credit information
- Evaluating the financial status of members by producing financial ratios through computer programs
- Assist in the preparation of document requests as it pertains to the collection of financial files, to ensure completeness, per policy. Produce loan documents, reports, and new accounts in a timely fashion, with zero errors. Track updated financials and update analysis, as outlined by policy.
- Assist Loan Officer(s) in organizing and completing business loan files (including financial files) within the prescribed time frame to close the loan
- Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with finance industry practices, such as collections and loan decision making is required. One to two years of credit analyst experience is preferred. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret financial data such as financial statements, entity, personal tax returns, balance sheets, income statements, profit & loss statements, accounts receivables, and inventory lists. Knowledge of lending, loan collection concepts and practices, loan policies, and procedures is preferred. Excellent problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills. Strong social and communication skills. Must be able to operate a computer terminal and Windows-based computer programs. Prepare and present reports to upper management, and communicate financial analysis approach for each credit request.
