ABOUT THE BRANCH
The Policy and Governance Branch within the Shared Services Division provides policy advice and governance arrangements for the Shared Services program. Our branch is responsible for the financial management, performance reporting, internal audit controls, and assurance for the SDO and the Division more broadly.
The Smaller Entity ERP Uplift Support Project Management Office (PMO) has been established to support the Government’s new approach for the APS to access competitive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions – specifically, supporting smaller entities (around 800 ASL or less).
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Analyst will support the Smaller Entity ERP Uplift Support Project Management Office (PMO) by conducting thorough analyses of business processes, requirements, and objectives. They will facilitate effective communication by translating complex business needs into clear and actionable specifications, ensuring that the project team understands and aligns with data goals.
The Business Analyst will excel at data interpretation, providing valuable insights that enable informed decision-making. Their attention to detail, analytical prowess, and ability to identify potential challenges contribute to the overall efficiency and success of project activities, fostering a collaborative and results-driven project management environment.
The key capabilities of the position include:
- Lead workshops with business areas to understand diverse business requirements and any potential impacts or challenges to the solutions.
- Facilitate collaboration with peers across the organisation and in external service groups.
- Document relevant business requirements including defining business need and success criteria.
- Work independently or collaboratively to optimise business and data processes and facilitate process re-design changes through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisation change.

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
- This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months. Specified term vacancies may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
